Length: 5,686 yards Par: 69 Parkland Course

Having opened as a single nine-hole layout back in 1961, such was the popularity and quality of Dalmilling Golf Course that, in 1970, it was extended to a full 18 holes. Since then, Dalmilling has matured into a course of distinctive character renowned for providing an enjoyable and fair test of golf. An open and honest course, its undulating parkland makes for easy walking and excellent golf. The River Ayr bounds the southern borders of the course and the tributary burns add a twist to the early holes, making it a memorable round from start to finish. The fifth hole, “Wallace’s Heel”, is named after William Wallace who, according to local folklore, leapt the river to escape English soldiers and left his heel print in the bank. From this footprint, legend has it that a new fresh water spring flowed. The signature hole of the course is the short 120-yard sixth, where trees are tight on the left of the small raised green, surrounded on the other sides by a burn. If a challenging test of golf amidst charming surroundings is what your society is looking for, then Dalmilling more than fits the bill.
