Length: 6,148 yards Par: 71 Parkland Course
Described as “one of the jewels of Lancashire’s inland courses,” Dean Wood is home to a thoroughly enjoyable parkland course that is sure to provide a memorable venue for your next golf society outing.
Set in the heart of Lancashire, between the charming villages of Upholland and Orrell, the course is accessible to golfers of all standards. Though relatively short on the card at just over 6,000 yards in length, Dean Wood presents a deceptively diffcult test of a player’s shot-making aptitude, short game and precision off the tee.
Very much a course of two halves, the first nine holes were designed by the renowned golf course architect and five-time Open champion James Braid. Situated amidst tree-lined parkland, the outward half presents a gentle introduction before an exacting examination on the back nine. The inward half, characterised by sloping fairways and small undulating greens, demands accuracy and considered course management.
Societies choosing to visit Dean Wood can rest assured of an equally memorable and enjoyable experience that will doubtless leave you wanting to return again.
