Opened in 1992, the course at Whitefields Golf Club has matured into an enjoyable and intriguing challenge for golfers of all abilities. The layout is a testing 6,289 yards in length, and, with a par of 71, is a sincere challenge for golfers of all ages and handicaps. The signature hole is the intimidating ‘Curlie’s Corner’. A par-3 with no room for error, it takes a precise approach from 184 yards to find a green that is guarded by water. The 15th also tests a player’s nerve. Though the short par-4 is just 257 yards in length, water flanking the fairway has earned it the apt name, ‘Temptation’. On this ultimate risk and reward hole, a good drive can find the green and grant an eagle putt, while even a slight deviation off the tee will find a watery grave. Visitors are invited to ready themselves for the challenge that lies ahead by honing their skills on both the 18-hole putting green and 16-bay floodlit driving range. With a short game practice area also at hand, there’s no excuse for being unprepared before taking on the test at Whitefields. Societies can also make use of the host of excellent facilities on offer at the adjoining Draycote Hotel.
