Formerly known as Lexden Wood Golf Club, Playgolf Colchester is an 18-hole course that was redesigned in 2006/07 at a cost of £1m by Jonathon Gaunt.
The course architect added another 1,000 yards in distance to the previous layout, adding new greens and tees as well as reconstructing and adding nearly 80 new bunkers.
The fourth - named 'Frosts Colour Corner - is the toughest, with seven well-positioned bunkers and out of bounds all down the right side and behind the green.
The greens are USGA specification so provide great consistency all-year round, and the large teeing areas enable us to provide all-year play without the need for winter mats.
With the River Colne running through the course, it also some spectacular views of the Colne Valley and the nearby picturesque village of West Bergholt.
There is also the Academy Course with holes range from 30-70 yards, giving a great opportunity for golfers to work on their short game. Also, it is a great course for beginners and the whole family.
