Course Description

First established in 1896 and the oldest club in the County, The Herefordshire Golf Club moved to its present location on the Ravens Causeway some 36 years later in 1932. A special location founded by the legendary James Braid, offering far reaching and stunning outlooks of the Shropshire Hills, the Breacon Beacons and the Malverns. Covering 130 acres of beautiful, parkland countryside, it has an extensive range of facilities for you to make the most of.

Described as the "Gleneagles of the Midlands" the course is a great test for golfers of all abilities and is a challenge right from the 1st tee to the 18th green. You will need to take particular note of the tricky par-3 15th hole, which has destroyed many a scorecard over the years.

The green is protected by a lake to the front and left of it, and two reasonably large bunkers to the right. Assuming you reach it without encountering any of the obvious dangers, the green itself can pose problems, sloping from front to back, so aim to shoot just beyond the pin for a real birdie opportunity. You still have the chance to improve your score, though, with the short 289-yard par-4 18th hole offering the perfect opportunity to finish on a high, but you'll still need a lot of skill to achieve a birdie.

Having left the 18th, you can head to the beautifully presented clubhouse, which provides spectacular views and a perfect setting for your society outing.
