Milngavie Golf Club has been presenting an enjoyable blend of stimulating golf, stunning scenery and genuine hospitality for over a century.
Located just outside Glasgow, the course is quite rightly regarded as one of the finest in the area. Its setting on the edge of Mugdock Country Park, adjacent to the West Highland Way contributes in no small part to this reputation. At its highest reaches, Milngavie offers striking views over the city of Glasgow and a panorama from the Pentland Hills to Ben Lomond.
Measuring 5,818 yards in length, this par-69 delight provides a test of every facet of a golfer’s game. Rather than demanding brute force, the course requires a deft touch, imagination and precision to navigate.
Founded in 1895, the layout was conceived by the Auchterlonie brothers, Willie and Laurie, before the legendary course designer James Braid added to the initial moorland course years later. It is testament to the Auchterlonies’ initial design that, despite the advances in equipment technology, the course today differs little from their original vision over a hundred years ago.
