Course Description

Oxford Golf Club, formerly known as Southfield, is a real hidden gem of a course and although it is just two miles from Oxford city centre, you can really experience the tranquility of being deep in the countryside when you tee it up here.

Laid out in 1922 by legendary course architect Harry Colt, he chose to incorporate some of the original holes laid out by James Braid, giving this undulating, parkland par-70 course one of the finest pedigrees possible in golf course design and one that will test your game to its limits.

Helping to contribute to this excellent test of golf is a great variety of holes – pulsating par-4s, graceful, point-scoring par-5s and birdie-making yet testing par-3s – all in quite stunning surroundings.

Built mainly on sand, the course drains extremely well, offering members and visitors excellent all year round playing conditions.

Comprehensive practice facilities are also available: a pristine putting green, an extensive short-game area with bunker practice, driving mats and netted swing bays.

There is also an abundance of wildlife on display at Oxford, including muntjac deer, rabbits, pheasants and red kites. It really does give you that rural feeling.

Oxford offers enjoyment to golfers of all standards and a warm welcome is extended to visitors and society groups alike.
