Having been founded in 1893, Silkstone boasts the honour of being one of the oldest clubs in Yorkshire - and it’s certainly also one of the region’s finest.
Its distinguished history, however, hasn’t stopped the club from planning for the future, and with the creation of seven new holes - with greens to USGA standards - today the course is a much stiffer test than ever before.
With the overall extension of the layout, Silkstone is a venue fit to test golfers of every ability, and, with no two holes the same, will keep them on their toes for the duration of their round.
While the course may have altered since its inception, there are two things that remain the same, both of which are sure to find favour among society members.
From the course, the views over the Pennines are as spectacular as ever and can be enjoyed from every point of Silkstone’s marvellous elevated location.
Best of all, however, is the fact that the club still offers all visiting societies the warmest of welcomes, with a wide range of catering options and, as always, a good helping of world-famous Yorkshire hospitality.
