Course Description

Monmouth Golf Club only became an 18-hole course in 1992 but that hasn’t stopped it being quickly recognised as one of the prettiest and quirkiest in the whole of Wales.

Measuring just shy of 5,600 yards, it’s far from being one of the longest golf courses in the country but don’t worry, as that doesn’t take away any of its appeal.

In 2007, it was crowned the ‘Welsh Club in Bloom’ – a title that you'll be able to see was richly deserved.

The course is widely revered by all of those who have teed it up with one hole in particular catching the eye. The eighth, called ‘Cresta Run’, has its placed in the book ‘Britain’s 100 Extraordinary Golf Holes’ and, once you’ve played it, you’ll know exactly why.

Placing No.1 on the course’s stroke index, the hole is downhill and almost a double dogleg. The placing of the drive is very important with out of bounds on the right and considerable areas of rough on the left.

The second shot can be influenced by the close proximity of the farm buildings, and the trees which camouflage them, to the ideal line to the green which is well bunkered.

Back at the clubhouse, the friendly and welcoming staff offer full catering and bar facilities, boasting stunning views of the beautiful surrounding countryside.
