Course Description

Waterville House & Golf Links is one of the premier courses in Ireland and, stretching along the rugged Atlantic coastline in the south-west of the country, it isn't difficult to see why.

Golf started in Waterville around 1889 and after the club folded in the 1950s, it was bought out by Jack Mulcahy who commissioned Claude Harmon and Eddie Hackett to design the new course, which opened for play in 1973.

It boasts spectacular views of the Macgillycuddy's Reeks mountain range and the beautiful Ballinskelligs Bay, while the view from the elevated 17th tee is simply breathtaking.

You'll struggle to find a course that boasts such a fine collection of unique holes.

There are three outstanding par-3s and three excellent par-5s, the pick of which is the relatively short 11th, where the fairway is flanked by towering dunes.

The 366-yard 16th was once called 'Round the Bend', due to it sweeping around the coastline, but was changed to 'Liam's Ace', after local pro Liam Higgins made a hole-in-one en route to a course record 65.

The remote location has prevented Waterville from hosting any major tournaments to date, but many famous golfers have been there and leave knowing that it is a very special place.
