Length: 6,329 Par: 68 Parkland Course
Founded in 1890, The Leicestershire Golf Club is a scenic parkland course situated in beautiful rolling countryside to the South of the city.
Woven through dense woodland, the course challenges low handicappers, whilst also appealling to novice golfers. If one is to earn a decent score here, it is vital that they are precise off the tee, with most fairways flanked by trees.
The present-day layout bears the influence of many renowned course designers. It was extended to 18 holes in 1889 and, in 1910, was further improved by five-time Open champion James Braid, who instructed the addition of a number of new bunkers. In 1936, the course was lengthened under the guidance of Major Charles Mackenzie, brother of the legendary Dr Alistair Mackenzie, with subsequent alterations made by CK Cotton.
Visiting societies are invited to unwind after their round within the distinctive confines of The Leicestershire’s circular clubhouse. Commanding superb views over the course, with excellent facilities for entertaining and dining, this is the ideal environment in which to relax after an enjoyable day on the course.
