The South Staffordshire Golf Club

Danescourt Road, Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, WV6 9BQ

Telephone: 01902 751065

Website:www.southstaffordshiregolfclub.co.uk

Length: 6,587 Par: 71 Parkland Course

The South Staffordshire Golf Club settled at its current Danescourt home just over 100 years ago and, since then, the club has gone from strength to strength.

Among the 160 acres upon which the South Staffordshire course sits is a series of interesting and challenging holes, including no fewer than six par-4s of over 400 yards which require a demanding mixture of skill and imagination.

Originally designed by Harry Vardon, one of the famous ‘great triumvirate’, and later tweaked by such luminaries as Harry S Colt, James Braid and most recently Donald Steel, the course presents a challenge to both the low and higher handicap player.

Many of the holes remain in their original and timeless character, but the gentle improvements which have been embarked upon have created a test worthy of modern equipment and the skill of the modern day player.

Such is the quality of the course and setting at South Staffordshire Golf Club, you may find it hard to believe it is so close the centre of Wolverhampton and the motorway network, which is why the club is so perfectly situated for visiting societies.
