Course Description
A course that is known as being one of the best in the East Midlands, is Horsley Golf Club, and it would be hard to argue. Any true lover of the sport will enjoy playing a round at Horsley and, with subtle improvements being made to the tees and greens over the past few years, it will only get better.
Almost every hole features water in some form or another, so make sure you pack plenty of balls for your round.
The USGA standard, undulating greens are huge and require clever thinking in order to sink a few putts to get some positive numbers on your card. Former Walker Cup captain Peter McEvoy, who is also responsible for Fota Island and Powerscourt in Ireland, designed the interesting layout.
Horsley is regularly ranked as the best course in Derbyshire and in the top five in the East Midlands, and is definitely one of the best ‘must visit’ courses in the country. On top of this, the club is located in an historic location, with the remains of Horsley Castle situated only half a mile south of Horsley Lodge. With an impressive course and a warm welcome awaiting you, this is the perfect venue to spend a day with your society.
