Course Description
Founded in 1892, Petersfield Golf Club boasts two excellent courses: the 18-hole Adhurst Course and 12-hole pay-and-play South Petersfield course. They both nestle in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is the South Downs National Park, just off the A3 between Liss and Petersfield.
The Adhurst is the members’ course and moved to its current location in 1997. Designed by Martin Hawtree, the undulating par-72 course meanders through delightful countryside.
It is built on 170 acres of sandstone beds, which afford excellent drainage. USGA designed greens, coupled with the free draining fairways, offer all-year-round play.
The course at South Petersfield in Sussex Road opened in 1976 as part of Petersfield Golf Club and, together with the original holes on the heath, formed the main golf course in Petersfield.
When the club moved to its new location in 1997 and the heath reverted back to council land, the club used the holes at South Petersfield to create a 12-hole pay-and-play facility. This course is ideal for new players as the holes aren’t too long or demanding.
