Course Description

Regarded by many as one of the premier inland courses in the north of England, Pleasington Golf Club is set in 142 acres of spectacular countryside a stone’s throw from Blackburn.

Originally designed by George Lowe and later extended by Sandy Herd, the 6,324-yard layout boasts an exceptional variety of holes.

Pleasington has had the honour of hosting many prestigious events during its 125-year history - none more so than Open Championship Regional Qualifying in 2005.

The course itself is a varied mix of heathland, parkland and moorland that keeps you on your toes the whole way round. Some of the best holes appear at the turn, with the majestic 487-yard par-5 ninth sandwiched by two equally impressive par-3s.

The latter of these, the tenth, is 190 yards and, as well as bunkers at either side, has one seriously large one around ten yards from the front edge.

While Lancashire is renowned for its links courses, such as Open venues Royal Lytham & St Annes and Royal Birkdale, Pleasington offers an entirely different experience but still one that comes with the highest quality.

And that quality continues way beyond the golf course. In the clubhouse, which is a popular wedding venue, its dining facilities can accommodate more than 80 guests, while societies groups of all sizes are made most welcome.
