Course Description

Oxford Golf Club, started life as the Oxford University Golf Club, with golf dating back to the site as far back as 1873, it is a real hidden gem of a course and right in the heart of Oxford city centre. Given the urban location, you could be forgiven for thinking you were deep in the countryside such is the tranquillity of the surroundings.

Re-designed as the course plays today by the legendary golf course architect Harry Colt in 1922, he chose to incorporate some of the original holes, including the par 4, 5th hole that once had a facelift courtesy of Champion golfer James Braid, giving this undulating, parkland par-70 course one of the finest pedigrees possible in golf course design and one that will test your game to its limits.

Helping to contribute to this excellent test of golf is a great variety of holes – pulsating par-4s, graceful, point-scoring par-5s and birdie-making yet testing par-3s – all in quite stunning surroundings.

Built mainly on sand, the course drains extremely well, offering members and visitors excellent all year round playing conditions.

With the same pedigree of design that compliments; Sunningdale Old, Wentworth West, Royal Lytham to name just a few, it is safe to say that Oxford Golf Club is one of those courses that is a must on any golfer’s bucket list.

One of the oldest, one of the best… this is golf as it should be!
