Course Description

Stranraer Golf Club has the distinction of being the last course designed by the great James Braid before his death. In spite of being set on the shores of Loch Ryan, a saltwater loch that is the main ferry gateway from Scotland to Northern Ireland, Stranraer is principally a parkland course but with a hint of links golf on some lochside holes. Laid out on former pastureland with many stands of mature trees, its undulating ground offers fabulous views up and down the loch and over to the Ailsa Craig, the Isle of Arran and beyond to the Mull of Kintyre.

The course’s signature hole is the 5th. Your drive from its elevated tee and the view up Loch Ryan will live long in the memory. The course is a delight to play throughout the year, with the warm wash of the Gulf Stream providing the region with a mild climate that makes playing golf possible on all but a few days each year.

Catering packages are also available for visiting parties from the Club Steward. Please request when booking. One thing you’ll be sure of when you visit Stranraer Golf Club is a warm welcome.
