Course Description

Stranraer Golf Club has the distinction of being the last course designed by the great James Braid before his death.

In spite of being set on the shores of Loch Ryan, a saltwater loch that is the main ferry gateway from Scotland to Northern Ireland, Stranraer is strictly a parkland course. Laid out on former pastureland with many stands of mature trees, its undulating ground offers fabulous views up and down the loch, with the various ferries sailing to and fro, as well as over to the Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran.

Golfers will find that the course is a delight to play throughout the year, with the warm wash of the Gulf Stream providing the region with a mild climate that makes playing golf possible on all but a few days each year.

Whatever the weather, one thing you'll be sure of when you visit Stranraer Golf Club is a warm welcome. The club enjoys hosting groups and societies seven days a week throughout the year, and is also a member of the Association of James Braid Courses, a collection of courses in Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales, with one in New York, which were designed or re-designed or re-bunkered by James Braid. This allows Stranraer members to enjoy preferential green fees.
