Course Description
One of the finest downland courses to be found anywhere in the south east of England, Dyke Golf Club offers exciting challenges throughout the seasons.
With its fast greens and sea breezes presenting ever-changing conditions, its fast-draining chalkland means it is uniquely playable all year round.
Its enviable position, 650ft above sea level, affords it spectacular views out across the English Channel towards the Isle of Wight and has been created with the input of some of golf's most revered course designers.
Founded in 1906, Dyke has had two different layouts in its history. The first, known as the 'pre-war' course, was constructed by the club professional in consultation with five-time Open champion James Braid and was destroyed during the war as the land was used as a wartime tank training ground.
The current layout, referred to as the 'new' course, was designed by Fred Hawtree and is much longer than the pre-war version.
Offering a first-class test of golf, it covers 6,653 yards appeals to players of all abilities.
As well as its golf, Dyke is renowned as an extremely welcoming club, open to groups of all sizes and well worth a visit in 2020.
