Course Description

Situated next to the village of Highnam and to the north-west of the city of Gloucester lies Rodway Hill Golf Course.

In 1991, well-known local architect John Gabb was tasked with converting what looked like an open field into a challenging golf course that would test even the best of golfers, and he certainly succeeded.

A par-70 course stretching to more than 6,000 yards, Rodway Hill has many memorable holes but none more so than the 11th. Recognised as the second longest par-3 in the UK, it plays a sizeable 235 yards off the yellow tees and 251 yards off the reds! It’s a straight shot off the tee but if you don’t find the elevated green, that’s where problems lie.

Come up short and you’re left with a tricky pitch shot that, if you can’t find the putting surface, will lead to your ball falling down the slopes that surround it. If you make par here, you’ve done well.

Rodway Hill has also been recognised as the best value golf in Gloucestershire - testament to owner Alan Price. A clubhouse was built in 2003 and three years ago, accommodation was introduced on-site in the form of a high quality, luxury Eco Pod hotel, increasing its attraction to visiting golfers.
