Course Description

At 6,535 yards off the white tees, the course is not long by the standard of many newer courses. However, the real defences lie in the ever- changing winds which ensure that conditions are never the same for long, creating a real test that will require you to play every club in the bag.

The course was designed by legendary golf architects Harry Colt, James Braid and William Herbert Fowler, who worked round the natural rolling links land to create a golf course to be reckoned with. Tight lies, undulating approaches, dry-firm surfaces and fast greens can all be found here in abundance, so it's no wonder Aberdovey is consistently rated in the Top 100 courses in the UK & Ireland and home to the Welsh Seniors Closed Championships.

The modern clubhouse offers full bar and catering facilities, TV lounge with Sky Sports as well as onsite accommodation comprising six twin-bedded, en-suite rooms.

It was Bernard Darwin, the first literary giant of the game who returned here regularly, writing: "Aberdovey is the course that my soul loves best of all the courses in the world."

If you and your society decide to pick the Welsh layout for your day out, we're sure you'll understand what Darwin was talking about.
