Course Description

One of the older courses in Surrey, Shirley Park was built in 1913 and was designed by Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler. The course, set in 130 acres of rolling Surrey countryside, is one of the very best value-for-money tests in the area. The Simpson/Fowler duo had a hand in designing and reworking some of the great European courses, including Irish stunner Ballybunion, French classic Fontainebleau and Cruden Bay in Aberdeen, and their work here is outstanding.

Flanked by parkland on one side and the wooded Shirley Hills on the other, the course at Shirley Park is dotted with bunkers and protected by trees and, as such, is filled with character throughout. The woodland will definitely play a part if you are particularly wayward with your tee shots and, in some cases, approaches to greens. There are some interesting run-offs on a few holes, raised tees and tricky dog-legs, all of which add variety and require imagination to keep a score.

The clubhouse is ideal for visiting parties, complete with seating area outside for good weather days, and the pro shop is stacked with the latest gear, plus the opportunity to check your numbers with Trackman. Please check out our website for a complete course overview hole by hole.
